How do I get a business to stop selling, delete, or show me my information?
What businesses are subject to the CCPA?
Businesses that either have $25 million in revenue, has personal information on 50,000 or more consumers, or derives 50% or more of it's revenue from selling consumer's personal information.
How long does the business have to respond to a CCPA request?
A business must provide the requested information within 45 days unless it is reasonably necessary to extend to 90 days.
Does a business have to delete personal information once a consumer requests it?
Generally a business must comply but there are several exceptions including if the business need the information to:
- Complete the transaction for which the personal information was collected.
- Detect security incidents, protect agaist fraud etc.
- To enable solely internal uses that are reasonable
- Comply with a legal obligation
